LEADERSHIP AND EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Starting as a freshman, I had a strong desire to get involved in college. From the beginning, I took it upon myself to join organizations and start networking. By the end of my freshman year, I was a URI tour guide, an active sister in the Sigma Delta Tau sorority, and an active member of the URRISSLHA club (URI's branch of NSSLHA- National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association). Along with being a member of these organizations, I have taken on leadership roles.  I was promoted to Tour Guide Manager last year, and currently work to greet families visiting the school, set up the tours, and keep track of the visitor statistics. I was also nominated as Activites Chair for Sigma Delta Tau for the 2011-2012 academic school year where I planned sisterhood activities and events including crafts and hayrides. The largest leadership role I have taken on thus far was Secretary of Sigma Delta Tau for the 2012-2013 school year. I was the communicator between the executive board of my chapter, my sorority sisters, and our national chapter. This position highlighted my communication skills, my organization skills, and my punctuality. I also took part in mentoring roles at URI, working as a Greek 101 and URI 101 mentor. As a Greek 101 mentor, I educated new members of greek life about the camaraderie of the fraternities and sororites at the university, as well as how important it is to make responsible choices and decisions. As a mentor for the freshman introductory URI 101 course, I helped students to get acclimated to college life and learn about the many campus resources available to them. For more information about my expereince as a URI 101 mentor please visit my website by clicking the link below.

In addition to my extracurricular activities in college, my hobbies include snowboarding and crafting. In order to craft, which I do often, you must have a lot of creativity and patience. I think these are admirable qualities of mine. I also enjoy snowboarding with my family and friends. It is an exhilarating sport where I can challenge myself and become one with nature.
